  T.A. Meeting

Do you see how choppy it is? Somehow, I don't know what BYU was thinking when making classes either in the morning or late in the evening... What ever happened to during the day?! Somehow I'll fit in T.A. office hours, and Peaks hours...I gotta!

Today I call my "capstone" day because all I have is attendance to the class I am a T.A. for, and attend the capstone course, 410R. Which by the way requires I plan and carry out a 50 minute lecture! If any of you know me AT ALL, you would know that I do not enjoy the presentation aspect of things, especially by myself.

...that's right. I've turned down a member of the bishopric to give a talk in Sacrament. Of course, I came right back around and said I would... out of guilt from my dad. I really, really try to avoid these kinds of situations. 50 minutes. That's a long time. But I prayed and prayed for my capstone to work out...whatever it was going to be. And then I get an email from Dr. Miller inviting me to be a teaching assistant. I know Heavenly Father has given me this opportunity and blessing. How can I not accept and give it my best? Now all I need to do is pray and pray that I don't dull the students out of their minds.

I know, I know...

It's been a while since I've gotten on. But I've been a busy bee the past few weeks!

I lived through finals week. After my last final (Personality), I could feel a burden lifted from my shoulders. That final had me nervous and clamming up like I've never experienced with any exam at BYU. And get this...that was probably my favorite class this semester. It always turns out that way for me...the most difficult classes(as heard by rumors), always turns out to be my favorite, taught by really great professors.

Soon after, graduation came! Oh what an experience that was. Pretty crazy that I'm "one of the elite 1% that actually graduate" with a degree from college. Pretty cool! Don't be fooled, I still have a couple of classes to complete here in Spring Term before I can say goodbye to BYU forever. (tear). Needless to say, graduation was a little anti-climatic. But, gave me the excitment to be done.

My parents came for the special occasion. Our apartment was packed with all the luggage, blankets, and mattress laid across the floor. Worth it? OH YEAH! Having mom and dad there made me realize how much I missed both of them. Upon their departure, I could feel homesick. Homesick for my loving parents; homesick for the long road back home to El Dorado Hills; homesick for the comfort of home. 7 more weeks.

7 more weeks and I'm officially done. Yes, my capstone is set in place, and I know, without a doubt that I will be done come June 17th. What a blessing! Opening that email from Professor Miller, inviting me to T.A. for his class was like waking up on Christmas morning! I'm very excited and feeling great about this upcoming term.

As promised, though not a great representation, the photo of my new-do (looks longer here, but IT IS SHORTER from before). Isn't Max a cutie?! ;)

Last days

Tuesday I skipped classes all together.
Today, I figured I better try to make it to all my classes since this IS the last week before finals.
So, here I am.
Notice something funny?
The fact that I'm writing up this blog instead of listening to the deep, intriguing lecture about existentialism (no sarcasm intended). Might as well have skipped!
I've reached the point of "checking out."
Time for this semester to be over!

P.S. Alexis is coming into town today, and I guilted her into coming to my work party tomorrow night instead of hanging out with her "cooler" friends.

P.S.S. I got some books at the library. I am so excited to read and relax...hopefully (and soon!) I'll get to read WHILE laying out in the warmth of summer sun.

Ketch-up, Cats-up, Catch-up

Well, the semester is coming to a close. Hallelujah! Only 15 more days and I'm FINISHED! Well...with this semester. Gots one more term to go! And then I'm really finished!!! :)
I'm looking forward to seeing some of my family after finals, you know, since I'm walking at graduation and all. Kind of weird, since I'll still have to return to school to actually finish.

In the meantime, I'm stressing about fulfilling my capstone. NO ONE will hire me because we're leaving at the end of June (not long enough for training and actually getting the work done apparently), and NO research professors want me because, again, they want a student who will be around through Fall. Ya think they'd want all the help they could get and I'll tell you...I've got great work ethic when it comes to projects! Right now, it looks like I'll be volunteering 20 hours a week (at least) if I want to get this done. Which may not be such a horrible thing since a big message from General Conference this weekend was service. And I could give a little more of that these days...

On another note, I got a bicycle. Yes. After months of grieving for my Motiv (tear), Max and I both got bicycles. Beach Cruisers to be exact. I'm nervous about riding down the mountain using the pedals as my brakes...I'm so used to gripping the brakes with my hands! Every time I think about it, I get anxious and my palms get a little clammy. Or maybe it's the snowy weather making them do that...

And, dun dun-dun DUN! I'll be turning the big TWO-ONE on Monday, the 12th! Super awesome since I don't drink or gamble. I'm getting old...time to start popping out the babies! (Just kidding... or am I?...)

Alexis Grace will be joining our little nest here in Provo this weekend. A couple weeks to hang out with the coolest peeps in the world, yo! Total nerd. But in that "I'm-cool-no-matter-what-comes-out-of-my-mouth" way. My parents will be joining us in no time! It will be a FULL HOUSE at the Getz's!

Since I skipped school today, and have been doing pretty much nothing, I guess I could shower myself up, punch out some questions on study guides, write a few sentences for my essays and call it a day! Until next time...Happy blogging!

Easter Jitters

I've decided to make an Easter feast.
Which means...
...ham.
And I am so nervous. I'm substituting ingredients, leaving out others, and I'm just not so sure how it will turn out! Max thinks this is good for me...you know, learn how to be a "real cook"--like the ones on the food network. PSH-YEAH RIGHT!

The Menu:
Strawberry and Mozzerella salad
Tangerine glazed ham with baby carrots (gotta have carrots! bunnies, eggs, easter! DUH!)
Red, creamy potatoes with rosemary and garlic
Croissant rolls (store bought :p ).

Followed by:
Cheesecake----------------Max's preference
Better Than Sex Cake----Mine ;)

Let it be known that I've never actually had "better than sex cake" but I've heard people(mostly girls) just rave about it. I'm excited to make it. Mostly excited to DEvour it. Happy cooking!
