Beautiful weekend

I love these pleasant days... the seasonally transitional days. You know, saying goodbye to Summer while saying hello to Fall days. The warm sun rays streaming through the sky to warm your insides, and at the same time feeling a cool breeze brush across your face is the best.

I also love Conference weekends. I anticipate it and I love sitting down and hearing the warmth of the Lord's servants' voices echo throughout my tiny apartment. Throw a little Mo Tab in there and I'm completely content.

I also love making special breakfasts for Conference weekend. I'm pretty sure every Mormon household does something special for their families, whether it's Saturday or Sunday mornings. This weekend, we had waffles topped with fresh fruit... and my own personal touch of powdered sugar. Yum.

I'm so bad about uploading pictures... so this is my only one! But it sure is pretty isn't it ;)

I also love spending the time with my husband. In every way you can show that... love... ;) Hey, we're young! But in all seriousness, I love having him around. Our weekdays get so consumed in our individual tasks, that it's nice to catch a break on the weekends.

So, as you can see, there was a lot of loving this weekend. P.S. wasn't the Mormon Tab amazing when they sang that last song, God Be With You Till We Meet Again? I was dozing off on our bed towards the end of Conference, but I distinctly remember hearing the choir begin. If a soul can smile, mine definitely was. A warmth and comfort came over me. A great love for my faith and for the opportunity I have to listen to living Prophets speak swelled up in me as my ears listened to that sweet melody. At the same time, I felt sad that this wonderful Conference was coming to an end.

I am a Mormon. I know it. I live it. I love it.

I can take pictures.

Yesterday I was able to take the Edward's family photos. Even though they are practically family, I was still anxious. I felt humbled during this experience and it opened my eyes to this industry. I still have much to learn and I know with time I can only get better! I'm grateful I've gotten some takers for my free sessions. I need them! Send your kids my way! I'll take their photos :) ahem..Erin...ahem.

Darling Violet

I just got my 50 mm lens (an early birthday present!). So fun to use it and see the difference in my photos from my standard kit lens. The eyes sparkle on their own with the 50 mm! I love taking pictures with my Canon and I'm always anxious to get home and load them to my computer to see what I came up with. It's really exciting for me.

Maybe I'll venture into making a little money from it. You know.. like 20 bucks for a photo session or something to build a small portfolio of people other than my family :) Or maybe I'll just think about it and not really act on that thought. I'm not going to ask for feedback because I know I won't get it from all the silent readers out there! And I know my blog is getting hit like 30-40+ times a day... which is weird and shocking. It's probably all spam. Not sure...

On a lighter note, isn't Violet precious?! Cutie pie.

Everett

 I love this guy! You walk into the room and he lights up while running toward you with that sweet smile and those squinty Getz eyes. Just gotta love him, and kiss him, and squeeze him! And he's got the best tickle laugh. Oh my.

Brooke is official

Isn't she beautiful? Eight years old and now an official Latter-Day Saint. 

I love baptisms. Children have the sweetest spirits and in turn, allow me to feel the tender presence of our Heavenly Father the most. I love being a part of it. Every second of it!

itch...

I'm getting the craving for more sewing. 

In case you didn't know, I gave my Caterpillar toy away in my family's White Elephant exchange. Mostly because I knew my sister's would fight over it ;) haha. And they did. Which means, I'll be making a new one soon. 

Kara picked it unknowingly and I think her reaction is awesome:

Not only will I be revisiting that venture, but I'm also going to revisit the quiet book. 

Oh, yes.

This time it's going to be based off of bible/book of mormon stories. I've wanted to do it for awhile and I just saw a friend's version of it that she just started and well... it was the tipping point! Mind you, it will not be as many pages as my first but I'm hoping I can get more detail in with the sewing.

Oh and Max started his first day on the job this morning! It will take some getting used to not seeing him SO much. Literally, so much time together. Especially over the Christmas break. We're talking everyday for hours and hours. And hours. Maybe this is a good thing ;) In all seriousness, I'm so proud of him! He has worked so hard and he is finally doing what he has always wanted to do with a company he has always wanted to work for. I chose a good one :)

I'm such a hermit. The only day of the week I am absolutely consistent with grooming my body with my face painted is Sunday. 95% the rest of the time I'm makeup-less, wearing my boots and a sweater with my hair pulled back in a pony. Not only do I dress to please, but I love being home and creating things. Or watching Parks and Rec. Or both at the same time. Dreamy. I really should get a job where I have to face people other than my family...

On to other things... Breaking Dawn? Holy crap, I'm not having a baby after seeing what Bella did. Because obviously my baby will be half human, half vampire. Yes, Max is a bloodsucker. They did a good job of making her look like the baby was literally eating her from the inside out. My body was just cringing. And thanks to being married to Max, I couldn't help but think of him during the scenes I KNEW he would have made fun of had he been present. I've heard some great commentary from that guy! ha.

On to other things... School is over this week. One final left, and I've kinda been acting like I already took it. Christmas-itis? Vacation-itis? I-want-this-class-to-be-over-itis? We all know it's not Senioritis.

On to other things... I don't think I'll reach my resolution this year of getting my black belt. DANG IT! Goal is now set three months from now. I freaking better kick myself if I can't pull it together. I know I blame school, but I could have had it by now if I wasn't full of excuses. I must really like it if I'm willing to be doing it for so long. Can't have a baby if I don't have my B.B. It's my prerequisite to starting a family. It's ok if you don't understand...

On to other things... Alexis and Jared are getting married in 16 days! Better honker down on all the wedding plans. I just finished this for them:

It's a fingerprint tree. Originally it was going to be a guestbook but now we're having it for their families and bridal party. It will be a fun art piece to display in their home.

MIA

It's a crazy time. School is coming to an end, wedding plans are in motion, and I'm fighting to get ready for my black belt test... It really is taking me longer than it should... But, here are a couple updates that have been exciting for me:

Welcome sweet little Violet! Born on 11/11/11. If you don't know, these two siblings made quite the entrance into this world with their birthdays. Everett was born on the 4th of July and Violet, on Memorial Day. Patriotic, yes? Auntie loves them both so much.

Erin and Owen came into town for Alexis' bridal shower Memorial Day weekend. I love that little munchkin so much, I could just eat him! He loved Max. I tell ya, nothing is sweeter than hearing Max playing with Owen and hearing Owen laugh and respond back to him. Melts my heart.

Max let me have my dream. Yes, he gave me the OK to purchase this beauty, via Amazon for a great deal! Now I know it's not the T1i, or the T2i, or the T3i... but, it's not about the body of the camera as much as it's about the lens of the camera. (So I'm told). And once I get the hang of it, I'll be able to spend those extra hundreds of dollars on better lenses. Merry Christmas to me! The point and shoot just wasn't cutting it anymore :)
