Entrepreneur

I have a brother-in-law who is always coming up with new ideas for a business.
My dad is the exact same.
So... I took the plunge and I'm giving it a go. I opened an Etsy shop. I'm going to start out slow and see where it takes me. Right now I have been making hair bow clips. I'm sure I'll venture out into other handcrafted products but... like I said... slow.
You probably noticed my button on the right side of the screen? Yeah, I was stoked when I learned how to make that haha. Check it out! Kinda hard to break into the crafty, sewing business when there are thousands of other "mommy bloggers" out there doing the exact same thing! Spread the word!

Beige

Unfortunately, I do not have a BEFORE picture of this mirror. Just picture a brown, wooden frame with tiles on the inside with varying tones of tans and browns. Got it pictured now? Good.

AFTER:
I used a brown glaze in the nooks and crannies of the mirror (like always). The white paint went to a soft cream color. Perfect!

I'm heading into a creamy, beigey look for the bathroom. And I love mirrors so I put this one in the bathroom. We were given a huge floor mirror which is in our bedroom so it made sense to put this mirror in here! Notice I took out that brown shelf? If you can't remember, you can see it here. It also shows the blue mat and artwork, which has been replaced. I just love the decorating bug when I get it!

It's a bird!

oh, hi

What I've been doing....
  1. Painting wall art and displaying it (New Year's Resolution--check!)
  2. Trip to SoCal to help move my sister and her family into their house. Spur of the moment trip and I loved it!
  3. Gathering and putting together a toy box. Max said we need more kid-friendly things in our apartment! He should know I'd take him up on that ;)
  4. Collecting mine and Max's family tree information for yet another project... It's going to be a good one, stay tuned.
  5. Cleaning my home every other day. Surprisingly, it makes me feel really good to do it.
  6. JOB searching. Not a lot of fun, but I need one desperately!!! Don't we all...
  7. Thinking about training for Ragnar. Haha. I need a running partner but no one runs... 5 weeks and counting.
  8. Gearing up for my first real semester back at school! I'm anxious and excited at the same time. This 3 week break is too long...
By the way, have you seen The Help yet? I loved it. Perfect amounts of humor and drama. Definitely worth the $5 Tuesday ticket fee ;) Here's to another week! Cheers!

Canvas Makeover

See that big, red painting above the couch? Well... I never loved it when we inherited it. But, it worked in our family room for the time being. And then I created this to go above the couch:

So I was contemplating putting that big, red painting in the D.I. trailer because odds are, we wouldn't be able to sell it for $10 on Craigslist if we wanted to. And then my mom said that I could just paint over it. Genius!

...and then I got overwhelmed because, let's face it, it's a really big canvas. I decided on a stencil pattern. Can't go wrong with that, eh?

I told Max that I would be retouching that painting for a long time! You notice all the "lighter" and "darker" spots on the canvas in the daylight. Otherwise, simple and easy. I can't believe some people do this on entire walls, that's a LOT of tracing and painting... did I mention that's a lot of tracing and painting?
